ARN- Art Research Notebook

What in the world is an Art Research Notebook?
Good question!
It is more than just a sketchbook.
It is for notes.
It is for planning.
It is for exploring.
It is for inspiration.
It is for gathering thoughts.
It is for expressing yourself.
It is for researching famous or not so famous artists.
It is a collection of images
It is to be used during class and outside of class
It is a collection of your masterpieces and your "misfires"

Here's an example of a sketch from Leonardo da Vinci's notebook.
First sketch for the Last Supper

This planning, organizing, brainstorming, exploring study turned into one of the most famous paintings throughout History.

Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper

How will you use your Art Research Notebook this year? The options are endless but for starters you will do an at home assignment! Like a scientist you will OBSERVE yourself by looking at a picture or in a mirror and draw what you SEE! Your head and shoulders in detail.

 A SELF-PORTRAIT.

Due next Wednesday, October 6th. Worth 10 points. Do your best!

Welcome!

Welcome Artists!
I (Ms. Lisa) am very excited to begin this school year with you and look forward to see what you will create in Art class! I think you will really enjoy Art this year because you will learn techniques to improve your Art skills, be given opportunities to express yourself through your Art, and also showcase your Art in the community!

Notice on the right hand side of this page is a calendar. You can click on the days to see if something is Due, or what we will be doing an a particular day. This calendar may slightly change throughout the semester but overall this will give you an idea!  I have taught 3 years of Art in America, and have done some of these projects in the past.  I think you will like them!

I will also be posting photos of your projects, and of you working on them! All of the big projects will be done during class but there will be some small homework assignments I may give you (maybe once a week ;).

Check back at this address every week to see updates!

Again, we should all be excited for this year, not only for Art but to have an opportunity to receive an education where each and everyone of you is VALUED!

Sincerely,
Ms. Lisa :)
